Earlier this week, LG announced they are starting production of the first flexible display. They are also expecting to be able to put this display on devices by the end of the summer.

This malleable, plastic display has a resolution of 1024 x 768 and can bend at an angle of up to 40 degrees. It's also 0.7mm thick (which is one third thinner than a glass display) and only weighs 14g (half of what a glass display weighs). Plastic is also more durable - which was proved when the drop tests were done - it survived being dropped form a height of 1.5m and was barely scratched.
